Is there a shortage of cool buzzwords?
May 9th, 2008 | by Laurent FP |
Coming back from San Francisco where we had enough time to immerse completely in real life social networking, person-to-person discussions, I came back with a fun but weird aftertaste. The feeling that I’ve heard all those discussions, all those buzzwords, a couple of years prior. Maybe its me, but saas, open, platform and grid computing reminds me of past times.
Times where Open meant Open Source more than Data Portability, where Platform meant middleware more than API for the next Social Network, where Grid Computing meant Oracle stacking servers in the enterprise more that Cloud Computing, and where SAAS, well, was ASP.
Are we really that new, trendy and upcoming? It feels like a flash back to the late 90’s early millennium!
